Before there was John Bunyan …
It’s been nearly 500 years since Martin Luther got involved in heresy – I mean protesting the papal exchange of money for spiritual passage to the next world (indulgences). Yeah, Luther really academically gives it to the Pope in 1517, though before that Luther was working for the Man (the Pope). In 1515 Luther studied Romans and had a few epiphanies that changed our heritage: here’s a primer from author Don Sweeting, Romans, Martin Luther and 1515.
Within US constitutional law (Article 1, Section 2, Clause 3) all faiths are guaranteed representation according to their numbers, one Representative for every thirty Thousand; this American spirit is also neatly summed in the Pledge of Allegiance:
I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
